Doug's main practice areas are Insurance Defense, Civil Litigation, insurance coverage, extra contractual litigation, Special Investigation/Insurance Fraud, and commercial litigation, and State and Federal Trial/Appellate Practice. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Member of Kentucky Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute (DRI) member, Member of Insurance Institute of Kentucky, AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell, Best Lawyers in America, Former Adjunct Professor of Paralegal Studies at EKU, Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and has had dozens of speaking engagements to Insurance Professionals and attorneys. He is admitted to practice before all Kentucky state and Federal courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. A passenger was tragically killed in a collision with another automobile. At the time of the accident the vehicle was allegedly uninsured and excluded by the family’s other auto insurance policies. MGM was retained by the family to challenge the insurance company’s application of exclusions to coverage and refusal to defend and indemnify the father who was driving the car at the time his daughter was killed. The appeal dealt with interpretations of exclusions in the insurance policy.
